Here’s a wild thought:
We start dying the day we’re born.

Morbid? Maybe.
Useful? Absolutely.

The average life is 28,835 days long. That’s it.
If you’re reading this as an adult, you’ve probably already burned through around 6,000 of them (or more!)
Every day you live is a day you’ll never get back.

The Stoics were big believers in confronting this—not to depress themselves, but to sharpen their focus.
To remember what actually matters.

We put so much energy into chasing things that are replaceable:
Cars. Houses. Status.
But time?
You can’t earn more of it.
You can’t buy it back.
When it’s gone, it’s gone.

There’s this film called In Time, where the currency isn’t money—it’s time.
Need groceries? Pay with time.
Want to upgrade your lifestyle? It costs you years.
When your clock runs out, you die.

Sounds intense, but honestly? It’s not that far off.
You’re not spending dollars—you’re spending your life.
Every scroll, every pointless task, every “sure, why not” commitment—
You're not paying in cash. You're paying in hours.

So here’s the question:
If your time was visibly ticking down on your wrist—like in the movie—
Would you still be doing what you're doing right now?

Would you waste a whole hour arguing with someone online?
Would you say yes to another thing that drains you?
Would you keep numbing out, distracting yourself, filling time like it's unlimited?

Because it’s not.

Every time you say “yes” to something, you say “no” to something else.
Your energy. Your purpose. Your kids. Your health. Your peace.

So stop treating time like it’s free.
It’s the most expensive thing you’ll ever spend.

Spend it wisely.
Spend it well.
Spend it on becoming the best version of yourself—today, not tomorrow.

Reflection:
If your life was paid in time (because, spoiler alert—it is), what’s one thing you’d stop doing immediately?
And what’s one thing you’d spend more of it on?

Hit reply—I’d love to hear your answer.
And if someone in your life needs this reminder, send this to them. Their clock’s ticking too.

Until next time,

Broden Johnson
